A discussion program on Budget Mapping for the Ministries of Education and Health from a federalism perspective

The Federalism and Localization Center (FLC) organized a discussion program on budget mapping for the Ministries of Education and Health, focusing on federalism perspective, today (December 9, 2024) in Kathmandu, Nepal. The event brought together key federal officials and experts to examine how budgeting processes impact subnational autonomy and federalism.

Among the prominent attendees were Honorable Ammar Bahadur Thapa, Chair of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives; Honorable Sonam Geljen Sherpa, Chair of the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee of the National Assembly; and Honorable Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami, Chief Whip of the National Assembly. Also present were Mr. Radheshyam Adhikari, former Nepali Congress leader of the National Assembly Party, and other distinguished members of the relevant federal parliamentary committees.

The program was further supported by experts like Mr. Than Prasad Pangeni, Chief of the Fiscal Federalism Division at the Ministry of Finance, along with the Chief of the Budget Division of the Ministry of Health and Population, among other key officials. These discussions aimed to strengthen the alignment of budget allocation with federal principles, ensuring the effective implementation of policies across all levels of government.
